Having documented experience conducting and managing greenhouse gas inventories, submitting carbon disclosures, evaluating climate risk, providing insights that inform strategy, and managing related organizational change are part of the requirements for this position.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Support and manage Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 corporate Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory projects for manufacturing, consumer products, and financial service clients.
  • Communicate best practice in climate science projections to inform emission reduction goals and/or inform risk exposure.
  • Develop corporate carbon reduction targets and net zero goals using leading methodologies and standards, such as the Science Based Targets initiative and the Climate Pledge.
  • Research and develop enterprise wide physical and transitional risk outcomes and processes related to climate and sustainability that are aligned with TCFD.
  • Effectively engage stakeholders in industry-specific materiality assessments, including internal surveys and external interviews in alignment with leading frameworks such as GRI, SASB, and ISSB. Assess and communicate the differences between the frameworks.
  • Manage reporting process and prepare submittals to carbon transparency reporting and scoring platforms, such as the CDP, EcoVadis, etc.  
  • Develop strategy and manage multi-year strategic outcomes for clients across a variety of sectors.
  • Identify opportunities for direct and indirect emissions reductions using a variety of tools including energy generation and efficiency, optimized materials, carbon credit procurement and supply chain engagement.
  • Competently apply the outcomes of global data projections on emissions and decarbonization trends to company-specific emission models, including data from the IPCC, IEA, EPA, and National Climate Report, among others.
  • Communicate potential outcomes for existing and emerging ESG-related legislation globally, with particular emphasis on the US, EU, and China.
  • Collaborate with team members cross-functionally to support and leverage other services, such as LCA, material health and toxicology, and ESG reporting. 
  • Support colleagues in a fashion that builds their expertise and supports knowledge transfer and growth.
  • Continually educate self on trends and changes to carbon accounting methods and reporting standards. Provide education on trends and evolving standards to the WAP team and clients.



Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, or another related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • More than 3 years’ experience working as a Project Manager.
  • More than 3 years’ experience with Carbon Accounting, reporting, strategy development experience and working as a Project Manager.
  • Consulting experience preferred. 
  • Documented experience evaluating and defining carbon and greenhouse gas related opportunities and risks. Experience with TCFD preferred.
  • Experience in evaluating and calculating Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions as per EPA.
  • Documented experience and understanding of core standards, metrics and processes for carbon accounting and reporting.
  • Experience in reporting and developing strategy and improvement plans related to leading carbon transparency and scoring platforms, such as the CDP.
  • Documented experience evaluating carbon neutrality opportunities, certifications, and claims.
