JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for one experienced Embodied Carbon Project Manager to join our sustainability catalyst team and work on an exciting long-term project with one of our major international clients. This role will be crucial in advancing sustainability goals by identifying opportunities to reduce carbon emissions, implementing effective strategies, and promoting environmentally responsible practices throughout the lifecycle of buildings.

The ideal candidate must be comfortable in a fast-paced business setting focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and change and willing to learn, grow, and maintain their expertise as the industry progresses. We are technical translators, so excelling at communicating results that distill essential information into actionable priorities are a competency from the candidate’s skillset - you are a storyteller.

Industry Expertise for this role requires experience with in the construction industry is very important. This role will be overseeing projects for renovating current proprieties and new building construction, all with sustainability in mind. Some experience working with Design, Construction, Real Estate related projects, with product carbon measurement for equipment and building materials is mandatory.

Working in a fully remote setting with onsite client opportunities requires being independently driven and having a self-starter mindset. That means: take action! Applicants must have documented experience project managing Embodied Carbon initiatives and utilizing disclosures such as EPDs, PEF, or PEP, evaluating material and supply chain hotspots, providing insights that inform strategy, and managing related product change. Applicant will provide support services to the client and will be required for travel monthly for onsite visits.

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY


- Project Management: You will oversee and manage projects aimed at reducing embodied carbon. This includes coordinating with procurement teams, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to implement carbon reduction strategies, tracking project progress, and ensuring compliance with sustainability goals and standards.


- Strategic Planning: Based on your analysis, you will help implement and execute embodied carbon reduction targets and carbon neutrality goals using leading methodologies and standards, focusing on buildings and construction projects. This may involve selecting low-carbon materials, optimizing design and construction processes to minimize waste and energy use, and considering alternative materials or technologies with lower environmental impacts and/or identifying opportunities for impact reductions using a variety of tools including energy generation and efficiency, optimized materials, carbon credit procurement and supply chain engagement.

 

- Change Management : You will play a pivotal role in change management within the organization and across project teams working closely with stakeholders to facilitate the adoption of sustainable practices and drive cultural shifts towards greater environmental consciousness. This involves communicating the importance of embodied carbon reduction, addressing potential resistance to change, and fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for implementing new initiatives.

By effectively managing change, you will ensure that sustainability goals are integrated into project objectives and embraced by all team members, leading to long-lasting positive impacts on both individual projects and the organization as a whole.


- Stakeholder Engagement: You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including internal-clients, policymakers, industry associations, and environmental organizations, to promote awareness of embodied carbon issues and advocate for sustainable building practices. This may involve participating in industry forums, presenting research findings, and facilitating discussions on best practices.

 

- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: You will contribute to the development of systems to monitor and track the environmental performance of building projects, including their embodied carbon emissions. This involves collecting data, analyzing trends, and preparing reports to assess the effectiveness of carbon reduction measures and identify areas for improvement. You will also manage environmental impact disclosure projects such as EPDs, PEPs, or PEFs, among others.

  • Knowledge of leading LCA standards and methodologies.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, or another related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

More than 3 years of Project Management experience and conducting Life Cycle Assessments

More than 2 years of Change Management experience.

Advanced ability using Microsoft Excel.

Consulting experience preferred.
